You choose your payment method:

With monthly payments by subscription, the premium is automatically debited each month from the start date of your lease.
For annual payments, the premium is invoiced at the start of the insurance period. In the case of annual payments, the premium is calculated from the start date of the lease until 31 December of the same year, thus avoiding paying a whole year unnecessarily.
